Who We Are
Radicle B LLC, doing business as Ravine (“Ravine,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website and the related services, including digital learning materials and engagement services (the “Site” and “Services”).
What This Privacy Statement Covers
This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal information when you visit the Site, sign up for updates, create a Ravine account, submit an engagement inquiry, or purchase a paid module or Learning Trail. Use of the Ravine mobile application is further governed by the Ravine App Privacy Statement and Terms of Use.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three primary ways.
1. Information You Provide Directly
When you create a Ravine account, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and password. When you sign up for Ravine updates, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first and last name. When you submit an engagement inquiry, we collect your first name, last name, email address, a description of your project, how you heard about Ravine, and, if you provide it, the name of your organization. When you submit Trail Feedback at the end of a Learning Trail, we collect your answers and, if you are signed in, associate them with your Ravine account. If you enter into an engagement with Ravine, we maintain the contact and business information needed to perform the engagement, which may include your name, organization, email address, telephone number, mailing address, and related quotes and invoices. When you communicate with us by email, we collect the content of your message and the contact details you provide.
2. Information Related to Purchases
When you purchase a paid module or Learning Trail, payment and transaction details are processed through Square, our current third-party payment processor. Ravine does not store full payment card numbers. Square may collect and process information needed to complete transactions, verify payments, prevent fraud, maintain security, resolve disputes, and comply with legal requirements. This may include transaction details, payment method information, billing information, purchase history, device information, and related payment data. Ravine retains a record of each completed purchase, including the order number, amount, and date; the card brand, card type, and the last four digits of the card number; Square’s payment, order, and receipt references; the results of Square’s payment verification and fraud checks; the payment processing fee; the amount and date of any refund; whether you reached checkout from the Site or the Ravine App; and the date and time you accepted the Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Statement.
3. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, standard network request information, such as your IP address, general device and browser information, and the pages requested, is processed by Ravine’s hosting and security provider to deliver the Site, keep it available, protect it from abuse, and produce aggregate traffic statistics. The Site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, and Google receives your IP address and standard request information when it delivers them, under Google’s own privacy policy. Account creation, sign-in, checkout, and the forms on the Site are protected by an automated security check that evaluates technical signals from your browser to distinguish people from automated programs. To prevent spam, repeated attempts, and other misuse, Ravine keeps a short-term record of certain actions, including form submissions, likes, account and password changes, and checkout attempts. That record contains a one-way encoded form of your IP address, from which the address itself cannot be read, and, for form submissions, the email address entered. The record is deleted after a limited period. Ravine may use a web analytics service provided by its hosting and security provider to measure aggregate traffic, such as which pages are visited, the general region visitors come from, and how quickly pages load. That service does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not follow you across other websites. Its measurements are aggregate and are not used to build a profile of you or to target advertising. Ravine does not use advertising trackers on the Site. Ravine records whether a Ravine account was created through the Site or the Ravine App. When you visit the Ravine Library, your browser stores a randomly generated identifier. When you like an article, Ravine records the like with the article and the time it was made. If you are signed in, the like is associated with your Ravine account. If you are not, Ravine records the identifier with the like so that each like is counted once. That identifier is not associated with your name, email address, or account.
Your Ravine Account and Learning Progress
Your Learning Trail progress and quiz results are saved to your Ravine account so that they are available when you return to the Site or the Ravine App. Ravine can view the progress, quiz results, and sign-in dates of each account in order to operate, support, and improve the Learning Trails. Ravine keeps a record of the date and time you accepted the Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Statement, and a record of changes to your password and email address, including the previous email address. If you change the email address on your Ravine account, your account, learning progress, purchases, and email update preference remain associated with your account under the new address, and Ravine sends a notice of the change to the previous address.
Your Ethos Statement
The Ethos Trail includes the Mirror Assessment and asks you to write your own Ethos Statement, along with short reflections that lead up to it. Your Mirror Assessment answers and written entries are private to you. They are not shown to other participants, published, used in marketing, or sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes. Ravine can access entries stored in its database and does so only to operate and support the Trail, respond to a request from you, maintain the security of the platform, or comply with a legal obligation. You may request deletion of your entries at any time by contacting engage@ravinebtc.com. Trail Feedback is not a private entry and is handled as described elsewhere in this Privacy Statement.
Where Information Is Stored
Account information, learning progress, Ethos Trail entries, Trail Feedback, and form submissions are stored in Ravine’s database, which is hosted by a third-party database provider in the United States. The Site is hosted and delivered by a third-party hosting and security provider. Email sent by Ravine is delivered through a third-party email delivery provider, and information you send us by email is stored in Ravine’s business email records. Payment and transaction information is processed and stored by Square in accordance with Square’s own terms, privacy notices, and security practices.
How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to operate the Site and deliver the Services in a way that is consistent with why you provided the information. For accounts, we use your details to give you access, save your progress, and support you. For update sign ups, we use your name and email address to send Ravine highlights, news, and updates. For engagement inquiries, we use your submitted information to review your request, evaluate whether Ravine can participate in the project, and follow up with next steps. For purchases, we use information to confirm transactions, deliver access to paid modules and Learning Trails, communicate essential service information, and provide support. We also use information to maintain the security of the Site, prevent fraud, improve performance, measure use of the Site and the Learning Trails, and comply with legal and accounting obligations.
Email Updates and Opting In
When you sign up for Ravine updates, Ravine sends a confirmation email to the address you provide, and the address is added to the update list only after you confirm it through that email. If you select the update option when creating a Ravine account, the address is added once the account is confirmed. You may opt out of update emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in those messages, by changing your email preference in your Ravine account settings, or by emailing updates@ravinebtc.com from the address you want removed. When you opt out, Ravine retains your email address, name, consent date, and opt-out status so that update emails are not sent to that address again. Ravine may also send emails that relate to your account, a purchase, an inquiry, an engagement, or changes to the Services, and those emails may be sent even if you have opted out of update emails.
Engagement Inquiry Follow-Up Timeline
When you submit an engagement inquiry, Ravine reviews the submission and follows up by email with next steps. Ravine generally responds within 24 to 48 hours to the email address provided.
Cookies and Analytics
Ravine does not use advertising cookies and does not use cookies to track you across other websites. The Site uses your browser’s storage to keep the Site working and to remember your preferences, such as keeping you signed in to your account, and to store the Library identifier described above. The web analytics service described above does not set cookies. You can clear or block site storage through your browser settings, which may affect features such as staying signed in.
Live Bitcoin Data
Some pages show live Bitcoin data, which your browser requests directly from the public sources mempool.space and alternative.me. When it does, those services receive standard network request details, including your IP address, under their own privacy policies. The Site sends them only what is needed to load public blockchain and price data, and never personal information about you.
How We Share Information
Ravine does not sell your personal information. Ravine also does not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share information only in limited circumstances and only as needed to operate the Site, deliver the Services, process transactions, communicate with you, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations. We share information with the service providers that help us run Ravine, namely our hosting and security provider, which also provides aggregate site analytics, our database provider, our email delivery and business email providers, Google for the delivery of the Site’s typefaces, and Square for payment processing, transaction handling, fraud prevention, dispute management, and payment security. These providers may process personal information as part of providing their services to Ravine, and their handling of information is governed by their own terms, privacy notices, security practices, and legal obligations. We may disclose information if required to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights and safety, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our Terms and Conditions. Information may also be transferred in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing, or asset sale.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain business records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected. You may delete your Ravine account at any time by contacting engage@ravinebtc.com from the email address on the account or, where available, within the Ravine App. Deletion permanently removes your account, Learning Trail progress, quiz results, Ethos Trail entries, and email update preference. Trail Feedback and Library likes submitted while you were signed in remain but are no longer associated with any account. Deleting your account ends access to any paid module or Learning Trail purchased with it. Records of completed purchases are retained for tax, accounting, and legal purposes and are disassociated from any account upon deletion. Ravine also retains a record that an account was deleted, consisting only of whether the account was created through the Site or the Ravine App and the dates on which it was created and deleted. Copies of deleted information may remain in Ravine’s database backups until those backups are overwritten on their regular schedule.
Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Your Choices and Rights
You can request access, correction, or deletion of certain personal information, subject to legal and operational limits. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, and we will respond to verified requests as required. To submit a request, contact engage@ravinebtc.com and we will respond after verifying your request as required.
Sensitive Information
Ravine does not intentionally collect or maintain sensitive personal information, and we ask that you do not submit sensitive personal information through our forms, Ethos Trail entries, or communications. Sensitive personal information can include government identification numbers, financial account details, precise health information, or other information that is not necessary for Ravine to provide its content or Services.
Children’s Privacy
Ravine does not request or collect date of birth through our standard forms. The Site, content, and Services are not designed for or directed to children under the age of 13, and Ravine does not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from children under 13. If a child under 13 submits personal information to Ravine and we learn that the information relates to a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to remove it. If you believe that Ravine may have personal information from a child under 13, contact engage@ravinebtc.com so that Ravine can review the matter and take appropriate steps.
International Visitors
The Services are intended for a United States audience. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where Square or Ravine’s other service providers operate. Data protection laws may differ from those in your region.
Changes to This Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. The Last Updated date shows the date of the latest revision. If Ravine makes a material change, Ravine will provide notice on the Site or by email to account holders. Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Statement.
Contact
Ravine does not maintain a physical location open to the public. Privacy questions and requests may be directed to engage@ravinebtc.com. Requests to opt out of email updates may be directed to updates@ravinebtc.com.
